We should discuss, ahead of time, your expectations and goals for your portrait: How you will use your photo? Are you looking to project a certain feel? Do you need your headshots to be on a certain color backdrop?
Get plenty of rest and hydration before your session
Use lip balm for a few days prior to your session to avoid dry cracked lips
Don’t get a new haircut just before your session
What to Wear
Wear clothing that you feel good wearing
Simple, non-pattered clothing works best and does not distract from the face
Clothing should be well fitting; not too tight, not too loose
Clothing should be clean and neatly pressed
Keep your make-up simple and neutral. Matte or translucent make-up is suggested. Avoid frosts, shimmers or very bright colors.
Pay close attention to details: evenly applied foundation, mascara that is not clumped or flaking, neutral lipstick.
Keep in mind that sleeveless tops will draw attention to your arms and shoulders.
Keep jewelry simple and small.
Make sure you wear proper undergarments for you choice of outfit
Make sure your shirt and jacket fit well, are clean and neatly pressed. If you wear a jacket, make sure you are able to button it comfortably
If you plan to be photographed without a jacket, we do not recommend a pure white dress shirt
Make sure your beard is well groomed, and you are freshly shaven
